The Trek was created to raise awareness of public trees in our communities. The
event is geared toward people who have the common interest and joy of riding
bicycles and of talking trees.
This year's Trek des Trees is shaping up to be a fun filled community and family
event. Beginning at Oakledge Park in Burlington, riders can choose between:
A. An educational bicycle rally - the rally is an opportunity to ride with a group
while scouting out dozens of questions related to the local folklore & history and
questions about Burlington's trees! OR
B. A group road ride traveling through scenic terrain of Burlington and
surrounding towns within the gorgeous Champlain Valley (with an average pace of 15-18
mph).
If interested in the Rally, you'll need to organize a team of 4 people. Your team will
be given all the questions and supplies you'll need to find the rally stops and
complete your questions or task. If you cannot put together a team, no problem! A
team will be organized for you the day of the event.
Both rides finish at Oakledge Park to join together in food, fun, and prizes. Prizes
will be given for the most correct answers overall by a team, most correct "local
questions" answer by a team and most correct "tree questions" answered. Other
prizes will be awarded for the most original team name and for the best team
uniform (use your imagination)!
Riders (who are Certified Arborists) riding in the rally earn valuable CEUs while
participating in this fun community event!
For more information please keep your eye out for exciting details, updates, and
registration here! Or visit Local Motion in person located in the City of Burlington
(by the Apple Mountain Gift shop near the Lake Champlain Ferry).
Bike rentals will be available for an additional cost
