Rick Harper Awards the New England ISA Arbor Day Grant
July 1, 2019. The New England Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture awarded their $1000, 2019 Arbor Day Grant to the Plainfield Tree Alliance on July 1, 2019 at the Plainfield Town Hall at 7:00pm. New England Chapter President, Rick Harper, presented the committee with a plaque commemorating the grant award.
The Arbor Day Grant was created in 2006 for small towns and communities requiring assistance to support Arbor Day programs and festivities at the local level. This grant awards up to $1,000.00 to a municipality, non-profit organization, or institution that demonstrates need to promote and support their Arbor Day celebration.
David Perkins of the Plainfield Tree Alliance said the “Plainfield, Massachusetts’ Arbor Day Weekend — the first of many, we hope — was a success. A crowd of 30 residents and friends celebrated the first year of the Plainfield Tree Alliance, our first Arbor Day Weekend, planted trees and saplings, and welcomed spring. We are grateful to the New England Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture for its generous grant. It allowed us to purchase the trees and saplings, to serve refreshments, to print programs, posters, and banners, and to reach out to the community through social media and the local newsletter”.
The New England Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (NEC-ISA) is a member organization for arborists and urban foresters. We bring together professionals from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island. Since 1965, we have been a resource and advocate for the green industry.
